Children's Programs

DJD children's classes are non-competitive and focus on process rather than performance (no grading, competitions or recitals). There are 2-3 observation weeks each session and an informal showing of class work is scheduled at the end of each session.

Children can start at age 2 with a Mom (or Dad) & Tots class and begin dancing on their own at 3 years in a Pre-Jazz class. After the Pre-Jazz program students move onto the jazz program at the age of 6. We offer Tap classes for dancers aged 7 and older and Funk from 8 years of age. Review our Class Levels & Descriptions or contact us for guidance in selecting the appropriate class for your child. See our Adult & Teen Program for a wide variety of classes for students 13 & over.

We offer four sessions each year:

  • Fall - September to the end of December
  • Winter - January to the end of April
  • Spring - Beginning of May to the end of June
  • Summer Camps - week-long through the months of July & August

  • We also offer occasional workshops and events for children, including birthday parties and our annual demo day.
